Airsoft guns are like other equipment and firearms in that they need regular
maintenance to perform well.
Oil the Barrel
After 2 - 4 hours of intense play, it is recommended to oil the
inner barrel. Use a can of 100% silicon oil. Hold the AEG upside down with the tip
angled slightly towards the ground. Spray a 1 - 2 second burst of oil in the bb
feeding port located in the magazine well. This is the entrance to the inner barrel.
Let the oil run for ten or so seconds. Using semi-auto mode, dry-fire the gun
5 times. Insert a loaded magazine in the gun. Holding the AEG upright, fire
20 to 40 bb's. Use semi-auto at the beginning but full-auto bursts are okay.
When the bb's come out, the oil will make them shoot somewhat erratically for a while.
After the bb's shoot consistently in the same area again, fire 10 more rounds in
semi-auto.
Prep Before Storage
After shooting in full-auto, the spring will still have some compression. Shoot 5 bb's
in semi-auto mode to relieve the spring tension. Remove the magazine. Shoot the gun
in semi-auto until it dry-fires 2 times consecutively. This ensures no bb's are left in
the rifle, which can be dangerous when picking the gun up the next time.
Remove the battery. This is a good safety practice that guarantees the gun will not
fire if the selector slips and the trigger is depressed. It also saves battery power.
Empty the Magazines
Remove any bb's left in magazines when finished shooting. Removing the bb's helps
determine how much ammunition is still on-hand and relaxes the springs so they will
keep tension longer.
